<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game machine having a start lever which can be stored in such a way as not to project forward from a front panel of the game machine when the start lever is not used, and which can be made to project to be used when necessary. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The game machine includes a plurality of reels 3L, 3C, and 3R disposed in back of the front panel 2a of a front door 2, and a start lever device 60 projecting forward from the front panel 2a to start the variable display of symbols on the reels 3L, 3C, and 3R based on the tilting operation by a player. The start lever device 60 includes: a storage case 61; a sliding plate 62 having the start lever 6 and slidable back and forth; an urging spring 63 to urge the sliding plate 62 forward; a locking member 65 to lock the sliding plate 62 in the retracted position; and an unlocking button 64 to unlock the sliding plate 62 locked with the locking member 65 based on the pressing operation by the player.
