PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a batch-type heat-treatment furnace with which the atmospheric control in a heating chamber is easily performed and in the case of treating a rolled material, a preliminary pickling can be omitted and also, a treated product having good post-pickling property can be obtained to both of a rolled material and a wire-drawing material. SOLUTION: A heat-treatment furnace is constituted, so that, to an inlet/outlet hole 3 for a treating product arranged at one end part of the heating chamber 2 for performing the heating of the treating product under inert gas atmosphere, a vacuum-purge and cooling chamber 5 used also as the vacuum-purge chamber and the cooling chamber, is connected; to the vacuum-purge and cooling chamber 5, an inert gas introducing pipe 38 and an oxidizing gas introducing pipe 37 are connected; and to the treated product W which is fed into the heating chamber 2 through the vacuum-purge and cooling chamber 5 and heat-treated, the cooling of the treated product is performed by selecting one of the cooling under inert gas atmosphere or the cooling under oxidizing gas atmosphere in the vacuum-purge and cooling chamber 5 according to the type of the treated product.
