PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an illumination system capable of easily and semi-automatically imparting addresses of lighting fixtures. SOLUTION: The illumination system is composed of a plurality of lighting fixtures 11a to 11i arranged in a lattice shape with an "n" number of rows and an "m" number of columns. Each lighting fixture superposes address setting information and data of a maximum number the "n" rows of the "n" number of rows and the "m" number of columns of the lighting fixtures with an illumination light to carry out visible light communication by a transmission means 12. When a self-address is not stored in a self-address memory 14, each lighting fixture receives the address setting information and data with the maximum number "n" rows which are sent from the plurality of lighting fixtures 11 other than itself, stores the received plurality of address setting information in order of row coordinates to store the maximum number "n" rows in a received data memory 17. A data processing means 15 decides that the address setting information of which the row coordinate among the plurality of address setting information stored in the received data memory part 17 is at the center is a self address to be stored in the self-address memory 14.
