<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine which facilitates the assembly of a plurality of types of segments different in shape. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this shield machine 1, a revolving frame 8 is provided with a supporting frame 9 which is elongated downward; a pair of hanging beams 10 and 11 is provided by being arranged in front and rear positions in the supporting frame 9; and segment assembling equipment 3 is constituted by arranging a first segment holding mechanism 57 on the one end side of the front-side hanging beam 10, and arranging a second segment holding mechanism 58 on the other end side of the rear-side hanging beam 11. The second segment holding mechanism 58 is provided in such a manner as to be movable to a front receding position and a working position to protrude backward via a sliding frame 28 elongated backward.
