<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display system and a display having a simple configuration and capable of operating even when a lightweight and small power source is used. <P>SOLUTION: The display system includes a display 1 and a data supply unit 2 supplying display data to the display, and transmits the display data. The display 1 includes memory-type display elements 11, 30, a communication unit 18, display rewrite units 12, 32 to 34, 38, 39 rewriting the display in the display element, and power supply control units 13, 37 controlling power supply to the communication unit and to the display rewrite unit.
