PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning apparatus for a filter and an air conditioner mounted with it capable of easily and accurately carrying out position detection of the filter. SOLUTION: The cleaning apparatus 50 has the filter 1 provided with a rack part 8, arranged movable along a rail, and collecting dust, an upper rail 2 and a lower rail 3 composing a reciprocating path of the filter 1, a rail U-turn part 6 guiding the filter 1 from the upper rail 2 to the lower rail 3 or from the lower rail 3 to the upper rail 2, a motor gear 7 engaging with the rack part 8 to move the filter 1, and a limit switch 5 detecting a position of the filter 1 by contacting the filter 1.
