<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cost of a medium conveying device having an elevating medium loading member and a feeding member feeding a medium. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The medium conveying device (6) is equipped with: a medium support member (1a) having a medium support surface (1a1) the upper surface of which supports the medium; the feeding member (41) feeding the medium (S) to the downstream; a support surface moving member (66) moving the medium (S) between a feeding position feeding the medium (S) and a feeding separation position separating the medium (S) from the feeding member (41); a driving source rotatable in a normal rotation direction driving the feeding member and a negative rotation direction driving the support surface moving member (66); a one-way rotation transmission member (59) not transmitting the drive in the normal rotation direction of the driving source but transmitting the drive in the negative rotation direction of the driving source; and a drive transmission member for feeding, transmitting the drive in the negative rotation direction of the driving source to the support surface moving member (66).
