<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that, in a roll paper handling device which lets out roll paper by a roll paper-letting out part, conveys the paper by a roll paper-conveying part, conducts printing on the same and cuts the paper into a predetermined length by a roll paper-cutting part, the structure is complex because a rotary encoder is connected to a driven roller and it is necessary to provide a mechanism for counting a pulse signal sent from the rotary encoder. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Two permeation sensors 11 and 12 each detecting a roll diameter of the roll paper 10 in the roll paper-letting out part 5 are arranged side by side with the roll paper 10.
