<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphoric acid type fuel cell wherein gas impermeability and corrosion resistance against electrolyte are enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an end part sealing member 132 having gas impermeability and corrosion resistance against electrolyte includes a process in which a resin sheet 132b and a spacer material 132a are laminated in a plurality of pieces in order on a main face of a separator 142, and a process in which a distance between the spacer material 132a of the uppermost layer and the separator 142 is made closer while heating, and the resin sheet 132b and the spacer material 132a are heat-sealed.
