<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve technique in manipulating the apparatus, creating a transluminal opening, and maintaining sterilization. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: an elongated body equipped with a lumen wall engagement mechanism at its own distal end; and a sterilizing device for a lumen wall extending from the proximal end through the distal end of the elongated body. The sterilizing device includes an atomizer, a sterilized sealing material source and a patch. The apparatus also includes: a cutting instrument capable of extending from the proximal end through the distal end of the elongated body; a housing having a guide lumen as well as a seal proximal to a distal end of the housing that extends across the guide lumen to completely seal the lumen; a housing fixing member designed to fix the distal end of the housing to tissue; and a channel extending through the side wall of the housing having an outlet connected to the lumen on the distal end side of the seal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
