<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful color filter used for a display which includes an electrostatic capacity coupling type touch panel function, and detects a contact position of a body coming into contact with a display surface and also display video. <P>SOLUTION: The color filter 50 includes: a base 52, a color filter layer 54 provided on one side of the base and having a plurality of colored portions 56; an electrode portion 60 provided on the other side of the base; and a shield layer provided between electrode portions 60 and 70, and the color filter layer 54. The electrode portion is electrically connected to a circuit for detecting a position of contact with the display surface 12.
