PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a TG synthesis inhibitor effective for prevention or amelioration of hyperlipidemia and obesity. SOLUTION: The TG synthesis inhibitor comprises as an effective ingredient thereof ellagitannin, having a partial structure represented by formula (1) and a glucose residue in the molecule and having the 4- and 6-positions of the glucose residue substituted with a hexahydroxydiphenoyl group portion in the partial structure represented by formula (1), or a derivative thereof.
