<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further correct the shift of a scanning trace of optical scanning light due to, for example, the distortion of an optical scanning part which varies over time when the shift of relative positions of scanning light of a plurality of colors is predicted and corrected on the basis of the temperature in the apparatus. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The temperature in the apparatus is monitored by a temperature detection sensor 18, and when the temperature in the apparatus is detected as reaching a threshold temperature OLT1, and a temperature gradient unit is 1°C, OLT1×AUp is calculated as a correction amount of the shift of a color register. This correction amount does not include the color registration shift amount due to the deterioration over time. Thus, the correction amount reflects the detected result H by a distortion sensor 50. The detected result H by a distortion sensor 50 shows the difference Δ between a detected output value Hm and a reference output value Hd which is obtained by a preliminary experiment.
