<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing α-terpineol or its derivative in high efficiency by hydroxylating limonene or its derivative. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for producing α-terpineol or its derivative expressed by general formula (2) comprises thermal reaction of limonene or its derivative expressed by general formula (1) in an inert atmosphere in a water-containing solvent with faujasite-type aluminosilicate or mordenite-type aluminosilicate.
