<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power amplifier capable of reducing the risk of reduction in saturation output power with accomplishing a low-distortion and high-efficiency power amplifier. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A power amplifier 1 comprises: a distortion compensation circuit 220 for setting a value of output impedance of a bias circuit 212 so as to maximize saturation output power of a post-stage signal amplification bipolar transistor 202; and a distortion compensation circuit 230 for setting a value of output impedance of a bias circuit 211 so as to cancel distortion of output power with respect to input power of the power amplifier 1 in accordance with distortion characteristics of the output power with respect to the input power of the post-stage signal amplification bipolar transistor 202 of which the saturation output power becomes maximum, and distortion characteristics of the output power with respect to input power of a pre-stage signal amplification bipolar transistor 201.
