<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a truck having a brake mechanism which enables prompt brake operation and can be applied to a free wheel type, and having excellent stability when applied to the free wheel type. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The work carrying truck 1 comprises a truck body 2 having a plurality of wheels 3 and a handle 4 functioning as a gripping portion, and the brake mechanism 10 braking the truck body 2. The brake mechanism 10 has a braking member 13 braking the truck body 2 with frictional force generated between the braking member 13 and a floor surface F by pressing the floor surface F, and an operating portion 12 arranged at or near the handle 4 and operating the pressing action of the braking member 13. The pressing force of the floor surface F by the braking member 13 is controlled to a degree of being able to maintain an abutting state between the wheels 3 and the floor surface F.
