The method involves detecting a transmission request of an asynchronous data packet on a virtual channel, and detecting pending transmission of another asynchronous data packet on another virtual channel. An asynchronous packet starting symbol is constructed in case of positive detection, where the symbol has a symbol identifier and payload. Transmission of the asynchronous data packet is interrupted by inserting the asynchronous packet starting symbol in the latter channel. The asynchronous packet starting symbol is transmitted on the latter channel.
