The dryer (1) has a channel system connected with a drying chamber, where air is guided as a heat carrier into the channel system over drying materials. A flow indication control (FIC) diagnosis component (4) for the flowing air is arranged in the channel system, is selectively formed outside of the dryer, and is formed as an automatically regulated volume flow regulator or anemometer, where FIC diagnosis comprises regulation of electronically controlled rotational speed of a motor, and a shutoff valve is provided in the channel system.
