A display section (90) of a liquid crystal television (400) is provided with: a display panel (80); a source driver (10a) which drives the display panel (80) and has a comparing/determining circuit (50) which detects a failure and a switching circuit (60) which repairs the failure; and a source driver (10b) which drives the display panel (80) and is different from the source driver (10a).  The source driver (10b) drives the display panel (80) while the failure of the source driver (10a) is being detected and repaired.
