The method involves rejecting a measurement result of a lungs function testing of a patient if it is determined that a course of a flow-volume-curve is non-plausible. It is determined whether a proportion of parameters of the flow-volume-curve fulfill a definite criterion. The measurement result is rejected if it is determined that the proportion of the parameters does not fulfill the definite criterion. The measurement result is accepted if it is determined that the course of the flow-volume-curve is plausible and the proportion of the parameters fulfils the definite criterion. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a digital storage medium with electronic readable control signals cooperating with a programmable computer system for implementing a method for classifying measurement results of a lung function testing of a patient (2) a computer program product with program code for implementing a method for classifying measurement results of a lung function testing of a patient (3) a computer program with program code for implementing a method for classifying measurement results of a lung function testing of a patient (4) a spirometer with a circuit configured for classifying measurement results of a lung function testing of a patient.
