The rotor (1) is designed such that it is rotated with a rotor section (2) relative to a stator section and a probe is arranged between the rotor section and stator section in an intermediate chamber. The rotor section has a variable inclination (3) in a radially outward area and is provided in radially inward area with a recess (4). An independent claim is included for a method for operating a rheometer.
