The surface (1) has a field (2) for displaying image information from cameras of a surround-view system. Another field (3) displays control options that are selected with a control unit. A third field (4) displays a top view of a motor vehicle and an environment. The top view is provided by image data of the cameras calculated by a vehicle computing unit. One of the fields displays a visual angle indicator i.e. icon, for displaying environment regions. The visual angle indicator is positioned corresponding to position of the cameras at the vehicle with respect to the image information. An independent claim is also included for a method for representing an environment of a motor vehicle.
