A coated sliding element comprises a surface having a metal or metal alloy layer and a reaction layer, where the reaction layer is coated on the surface of the metal or metal alloy layer. The reaction layer includes an inorganic reaction product of the metal or metal alloy. The reaction layer contains solid particles having a particle size of 1-1000 nm and a thickness of not more than 5 microns. An independent claim is included for a method for preparing coated sliding element, which involves applying reaction layer on surface of the metallic or metal alloy layer by using solution containing an inorganic compound, where the solution contains solid particles with a grain size of 1-1000 nm. |
