摘要 Two-stroke combustion engines having turbochargers for conveying air would achieve a large output, a low weight, and a small installation size with twice as many ignitions as four-stroke engines. They would be very interesting for mobile units (hybrid vehicles, small aircraft, boats, energy supply units), but are not used for these purposes today. Due to the exclusive turbocharging, operation is possible only if more pressure is available at the inlet into the engine than at the outlet out of the engine, and if the pressure difference present at the turbine can manage driving the compressor. These conditions require a well managed operation. The combustion engine speed, torque, fuel amount, settings in the gas flow, and setting of a variable load must be carried out such that the engine is capable of running and has a favorable operating state. For this purpose, according to the invention the required output P is set as a product of the torque T and the speed n in that the torque t of the two-stroke engine (1) is set via the fuel volume fed to a combustion chamber of the two-stroke engine (1), and the rotational speed n is set by adjusting the variable load (2), and the gas volume fed to the two-stroke engine (1) is regulated as a function of the fuel volume fed and/or of the rotational speed n, in that a load pressure pL is set, which brings about a differential scavenging pressure ps between the inlet and the outlet necessary for the required conveyance of air, while the inlet and outlet are open at the same time, by way of back pressure of the exhaust gas against the conveyance of air into the combustion chamber.
