Provided is a simple-structure display device having a display panel (2) and a protection plate (1) which is arranged to oppose to the display panel (2).  The display device can reduce a reflected light reflected from each surface of the display panel (2) and the protection plate (1) without lowering the display quality even when the protection plate (1) is arranged on the surface of the display panel (2).  The protection plate (1) has a protection base (11) and a first polarization plate (31).  The display panel (2) has a second polarization plate (32) having a polarization axis parallel to the first polarization plate (31).  The light propagating between the first polarization plate (31) and the second polarization plate (32) is a rectilinearly polarized light.
