A polyester monofilament which is a core-sheath composite polyester monofilament comprising a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) as a core component and another PET having an intrinsic viscosity (IV) lower than that of the core component by 0.2 or more as a sheath component, has a fineness of 3 to 8 dtex, a strength of 7.5 cN/dtex or more, a toughness (strength × elongation0.5) of 29 or more, and a yarn length fineness variation of 1.5% or less; a method for producing the same; and a screen gauze produced using the same.
