<p>A method and apparatus for allocating the paging area are provided. The method for allocating the paging area includes: determining the currently locating basic paging area of the user equipment; allocating the paging area for the user equipment according to the history record of the movement path of the user equipment in the currently locating basic paging area. The apparatus for allocating the paging area includes: a determination unit for determining the currently locating basic paging area of the user equipment; a paging area allocation unit for allocating the paging area for the user equipment according to the history record of the movement path of the user equipment in the currently locating basic paging area determined by the determination unit.</p>
