An electromagnetic door holder for holding a door in an open position comprises an electromagnet 11 having a pair of spaced-apart poles and an adjustable armature 12 associated therewith for fastening to the door and for substantially closing the gap between the poles when the door is in an open position the armature having a first portion 22 adapted for face - to face contact with a first pole of the electromagnet and a second portion 20 adjustable in position with respect to the plane of the face of the first portion, adapted to be moved into proximity with the second pole 16 to control the air gap length. The holder is applied to a door (13), Fig. 1 (not shown) which is controlled by a convential door closer (14) and the electromagnet is energised through a switch (18) which may be controlled from a fire detection system (19). The mounting assembly for the armature also provides for horizontal and vertical alignment of the armature face. |
