CATALYTIC PROCESS BASED ON MOLECULAR SIEVES FOR TRANSESTERIFICATION REACTIONS

A catalytic process is disclosed, based on molecular sieves, for transesterification reactions in the presence of a basic catalyst of the M41S family. In transesterification conditions and in the presence of an effective quantity of said catalyst, an alcohol and an ester are reacted, the reaction conditions being maintained as long as required for the reaction to take place. The solid catalyst is separated from the reaction medium for re-use in another reaction cycle, and for recovering a higher yield of the reaction products than the yields obtained by this kind of reaction in the presence of prior art catalysts or in the absence of any catalysts. The following molecular sieves are some examples of such catalysts: [CTA]-Si-MCM-41, [CTA]-Si-MCM-48 or [CTA]-Si-MCM-50.
