The device has a rotatably supported component i.e. drive shaft (1), with a worm gear (4) and another worm gear coupled with gear wheels (2, 3) with different transmission ratios. The gear wheels are coupled with two angle sensors, and an evaluation device determines a difference of amplitudes of the angle sensors. The evaluation device evaluates an absolute angle position of the rotatable component within an evaluation area, which is defined by a smallest common multiple of the different ratios. The evaluation device is connected with a controller of a printing machine by a digital interface.
