PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing red dioscorea using loess water is provided to enhance carbonhydrate content and pharmacological efficiency and to improve storage property of Dioscora radix. CONSTITUTION: A method or manufacturing red dioscorea comprises: a step of putting 20 weight% of loess and 80 weight% of water and stirring once per 10 minutes; a step of precipitating for 24 hours and collecting supernatant to separate water; a step of steaming Dioscora radix in loess water at 80~100°C for 3-5 hours; a step of drying at 60°C for 24 hours; and a step of repeating steam and dry more than three times and cooling.
