An air flow damper comprises a deformable louvre 1, or a plurality of such louvres arranged in line, the or each louvre being mounted on rods 2, 3 fixed at each end to an operating plate 4 and a saddle plate 6 respectively, the rod 3 passing through a slot 5 in operating plate 4. By means of a setting screw 9 engaging lugs 4a, 6a on plates 4, 6 respectively, the spacing of the rods at each end of each louvre may be adjusted separately thus deforming the louvre to adjust the width of the gaps between the louvre and the adjacent walls (not shown) of the casing in which the louvre is fitted, which gaps may therefore be caused to taper longitudinally. The adjusting means may alternatively comprise a cam or lever action. The saddle plate 6 is pivoted at 7 to a frame 8 so that the louvre may be rotated as indicated by arrow 8, thus displacing it from its central position between the opposite walls of the casing. The louvre 1 may be made of synthetic plastics material, springy metal, or prefabricated from a plurality of strips of material hinged or otherwise connected together along their edges.</p> |
