The foot section (3) of the stocking (1) includes selective padding (30) in the base (4). The padding is located below the central metatarsal bone region connecting to the main toe joints. It lies below each of the metatarsals to which the central toe joints connect. The padding is up to about half the length of the central metatarsals. The outline of the padding is circular or elongated, being preferably oval in shape. Using padding with a lengthy outline, its principal longitudinal axis is practically parallel to the longitudinal axis of the foot.
