<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device for an internal combustion engine, capable of preventing excessive common rail pressure and decline in driveability of the internal combustion engine after the internal combustion engine is returned from an abnormal state to a normal state. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel injection device for the internal combustion engine is provided with a command sending amount calculating means 300 for calculating command sending amount controlling fuel amount sent out from a fuel supply pump 3 based on actual fuel pressure and target fuel pressure. When the abnormal state where engine speed exceeds abnormal speed is detected, the command sending amount calculating means 300 outputs the command sending amount corresponding to the abnormal state.
