The method involves detecting the tangential force acting on the wheels (2a,2b) of the vehicle (1) or detecting a parameter standing in connection with the tangential force. An effect on the vehicle is detected, which is caused by the influencing tangential force. The vehicle weight is computed from the detected data. An independent claim is included for a measuring unit for determining the weight of a vehicle.
