<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To record an ID wherein a boundary between an amorphous part and a crystal part is sharp on a phase transition type optical recording medium. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording medium has a structure wherein a reflection film 8, a protective layer (an adhesive layer) 9, a reflection film 10, a dielectric film 11, a recording film 12, a dielectric film 13 and a substrate 14 are successively laminated on a principal surface of a substrate 7. The barcode-shaped medium ID is recorded by irradiating the recording film 12 with a pulse-shaped laser beam from the substrate 14 side while defocusing the recording film.
