A covering lid 4 for the inlet and for outlet openings of a housing 1 is carried on a hollow curved arm 5 pivoted on a shaft 14 mounted in eccentrically adjustable bearings so that the cooperating conical surfaces of the lid and seatings may be adjusted one to the other. In the raised or open position thereof the lid is seated in the opening 8 of a recess 13 and through which the arm passes when the lid is lowered to a closing position. Compressed air is passed through the shaft 14 and arm 5 to a chamber 19 in the lid from which the air passes to channels for discharge of the air on to and to remove deposits from the surface 9. The arm 5 may pass through a sealing sleeve 21 carried by a plate 20 mounted adjacent the opening 8.
