1,102,336. Sintered electrode. VARTA A.G. 8 Sept., 1965 [8 Oct., 1964], No. 38410/65. Heading HlB. [Also in Division C7] A sintered electrode suitable for winding for galvanic cells is made by oxidizing a metal wire gauze, metal cloth or a perforated metal, e.g. by heating at 800‹ C. in air, coating with a dispersion of, e.g. Ni powder in methyl or carboxymethyl cellulose and sintering at 900- 1100‹ C. to form a layer 50-80 Á thick and then applying a coating of, e.g. Ni powder, as a dispersion in a cellulose derivative and polystyrene and sintering at 700-850‹ C. to form a porous layer of 80-85% porosity. The metal support may be Ni or perforated Ni-plated steel. |
