FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention refers to non-ferrous metallurgy, particularly to procedures and facilities for cutting block of spongy titanium produced by magnesium-thermal reduction of titanium tetra-chloride. The block is arranged on a table with axis parallel to support surface. Further the block is gripped with a handling device and transferred moving a part of the block beyond the table. A defect layer is cut off the projected part of the block with a cutting tool. The facility for cutting the block of spongy titanium consists of a bed, of a cutting tool, of the table, and of a power frame with the hydro-cylinder and slider. The handling device with a claw and drive from the hydro-cylinder is mounted on the table. A movable stop is secured to the power frame and can travel in the direction of cutting plane. The table is rigidly attached to the bed. Support surface of the table conjugates with working surface of the bed and is equipped with side walls. The slider is fixed to the power frame and travels vertically together with the cutting tool. ^ EFFECT: increased efficiency and service life of cutting tool, elimination of additional equipment for cutting blocks of spongy titanium, improved quality of spongy titanium block. ^ 9 cl, 4 dwg, 1 ex |
