The stopper head (1, 2) comprises a tubular core (5) through which a gas to be injected passes away, a refractory layer (10) coating the periphery of the core, and a fibrous layer containing woven ceramic fibers. The refractory layer is constituted of a part to be immersed in the molten metal and a seamless refractory layer (11) formed from a monolithic material with a flowable refractory material. The fibrous layer is present between the outside part of the core and the refractory layer. The woven ceramic fibers are wound on the core.
