A method of preparing an insufflation gas and at least one anesthetic, the method comprising a) supplying a gas stream from an insufflator 915 which supplies pressure and volumetrically controlled gas, b) injecting the at least one anesthetic into the gas stream upstream of any device 120 which heats or humidifies the gas stream to produce an anesthetic gas stream, and c) delivering the anesthetic gas stream.
