<p>A solar powered frost protection system to protect plants from frost comprises a solar energy collection system (2); energy storage means (4); and heat generation means (6). The solar energy collection system is adapted to generate electrical energy from solar energy and transmit that energy to the energy storage means and the heat generation means is adapted to use the electrical energy to generate heat to heat air near or surrounding plants to be protected by the frost protection system. The frost protection system can further comprise a control system configured to activate the heat generation means based on the temperature of the air and/or soil sensed by a sensor and/or based on the future adverse weather conditions sensed by the sensor and a plant cover. The control system is adapted to cause the plant cover to cover an area of planting when future or current adverse weather conditions are sensed by the sensor.</p> |
