A support rail for a bicycle saddle shell is disclosed. The support rail presents two perfectly symmetrical portions in relation to the longitudinal plane of symmetry of the saddle. Both of the portions present a first end section arranged in a substantially horizontal manner in relation to its normal position after it has been mounted on the saddle. The first sections are integrally formed with sloped second sections, which are integrally formed with third sections arranged in a substantially horizontal manner or slanted upwards for a maximum angle of 5ø. The third sections are longer than either the first sections or second sections, and are formed integrally with straight fourth sections, which slope outwards from the centre line. The uppermost part of the two fourth sections is formed integrally with two fifth sections, turning in an inward direction to reciprocally converge towards the centre line of the device, thus forming with the two fourth sections a substantially L-shaped structure. The ends of the two fifth sections of the structure being formed integrally with two short straight sixth sections which are united reciprocally by a single semicircular structure, whose lower vertex is positioned exactly at the longitudinal centre line of the device. A bicycle saddle shell for use with the support rail is also disclosed. In the shell, at the rear part of the lower surface are two prismatic structures having a substantially trapezoidal cross-section, each presenting a channel on its surface, inside which is housed most of the portions of the fifth and sixth sections of the rail. Each of the two prismatic structures further includes a cover plate designed to be positioned over the sections of the rail enclosing them between the cover plates and the prismatic structures. Each of the cover plates has a number of holes in which self-threading screws, screwable into the shell, can be inserted, thus determining the stable fixation of the cover plates and therefore the rail, to the shell underneath.
