PURPOSE: An improved oxidative dehydrogenation method of ethane is provided to prepare ethylene at high yield using a KOMS-2 catalyst with high activity and high ethylene selectivity. CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a mixture of carbon monoxide and ethylene comprises a step of providing ethylene and carbon monoxide by contacting ethane and carbon monoxide with a mixed atom catalyst containing synthesized cryptomelane or octahedral molecular sieve at 550 °C.
