PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation of light-emitting efficiency through restraint of movement of electrons inside a bulb toward a recessed part side. SOLUTION: The electrodeless discharge lamp device includes an electrodeless discharge lamp 1 having a bulb 3 formed in an airtight hollow shape with a translucent material and with discharge gas sealed in, and a lighting device 2 lighting the electrodeless discharge lamp 1. The bulb 3, shaped like an electric bulb as a whole, is structured of an outer shell part 4, a recessed part 5, and a tubular part 6. The lighting device 2 is provided with an induction coil 15 arranged in the vicinity of the recessed part 5 for generating an induction field, a lighting circuit 17 supplying the induction coil 15 with high-frequency current, and a biasing means 18 impressing a biasing voltage on the electrodeless discharge lamp 1 during a period in which the lighting circuit 17 supplies the high-frequency current. The biasing means 18 consists of at least either a positive biasing means 25 arranged at the outer shell part 4 for impressing a positive biasing voltage, or a negative biasing means 26 arranged at, or in the vicinity of, the recessed part 5 for impressing a negative biasing voltage.
