A brick (10), which is formed as a substantially rectangular block including a pair of generally parallel side walls (11, 12), generally parallel end walls (13, 14), and top and bottom faces (15,16) is disclosed. The brick (10) includes a plurality of cores (17,18,19) that extend through the brick (10) from the top face (15) to the bottom face (16). At least two cores (17) are positioned adjacent each side wall (11, 12) and are spaced apart from each other by at least 5mm. Each core has a pair of spaced apart generally parallel internal walls (20) which are generally parallel to one of the respective side walls (11, 12). The cores (17) further include curved end walls (21) which connect the parallel walls (20). The cores have a cross-sectional area which is greater than 6cm2. The wall thickness between the side walls (11, 12) and the closest parallel internal wall (20) of each core (17) is in the range of between 5mm and 15mm.
