PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a squelch and a relay station apparatus capable of improving reliability of broadcast by improving reliability of output shut-off control based on identification information. SOLUTION: The relay station apparatus 1 for broadcast performs prescribed processing including frequency conversion to a signal for broadcast, and has a digital squelch 5 for performing output shut-off control to the signal for broadcast or an intermediate signal generated based on the signal for broadcast. The digital squelch 5 determines whether a plurality of prescribed conditions for deciding the necessity of the output shut-off control have been met, and performs output shut-off control when determining that the plurality of conditions have been met. The plurality of conditions include: a first prescribed condition for determining the necessity of output shut-off control based on identification information included in the signal for broadcast; and a second condition, where the number of times for determining that the first condition has been met has reached a prescribed number of times.
