摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for sensing variation in time intervals between optical or electric signals and optical or electric reference signals, and for synchronizing the optical or electric signals up to femtosecond. SOLUTION: The method is provided for sensing the variation in time intervalsΔT between optical or electric signals 1 and optical or electric reference signals 3 with an optical sensor 5, and the apparatus is provided for executing a method of synchronizing the optical or electric signal 1 with the optical or electric reference signals 3. The method includes the steps of: receiving an optical or electric signal 1 and an optical or electric reference signal 3 with the optical sensor 5; outputting an electric response signal 15 having a frequency spectrum depending upon the time intervalΔT from an output terminal 13 of the optical sensor 5; extracting a selected harmonic from the frequency spectrum of the output electric response signal 15 with filtering; and sensing a variation in the time intervalΔT from a variation in an amplitude of the selected harmonic.
