PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for driving a plasma display panel capable of forming a reset waveform for reducing the reset period and allowing a stable reset operation. SOLUTION: The method for driving a plasma display panel includes, during a reset period, steps of: applying to scan electrodes a voltage of a ramp waveform rising from a first rising voltage to a second rising voltage with a first rising slope; applying to the scan electrodes a voltage of a ramp waveform rising from the second rising voltage to a third rising voltage with a second slope gentler than the first slope; applying to the scan electrodes a voltage of a ramp waveform falling from a first falling voltage to a second falling voltage with a first falling slope; and applying to the scan electrodes a voltage of a ramp waveform falling from the second falling voltage to a third falling voltage with a second falling slope gentler than the first falling slope.
