A furnace regenerator, particularly for use in glass melting tank furnaces, in which the checkerwork in that region which is heated to a temperature of less than 1000‹ C. comprises bricks of chromite with an admixture of up to 10%, preferably 2-4%, magnesia. The magnesia is normally in the form of sintered magnesia but fused magnesia may be used. The particle size of the magnesia is less than 0 2 millimetre and that of chromite less than 6 millimetres, preferably less than 4 millimetres.</p> |
